good things from the week

Happy Thursday, friends! I wanted to talk about what I'm thankful for this week since it's been a while since I've written about such things. Before I jump in, may I ask a favor of you again? If you comment on my blog, and you're appearing as anonymous, will you tell me who you are? I'm having some rude comments again from one person in particular; I don't know who it is, but I will not tolerate meanness, bullying, or rude remarks here on my personal blog. Most of you would never do that, but there are one or two that kill me with their stupid comments. Anyway, thank you in advance!

Okay, well, enough of that. Onto the good things! Here's what I'm thankful for this week:

I am thankful for the word of God and the gift that music is to me. In my Bible reading plan, I'm in a couple of different areas: 1 Samuel, and the book of Psalms. I read Psalm 34 on Tuesday, and then when I turned on Spotify to listen to morning worship, this is the song that came on! I promptly listened to it and sent it to a friend.

I am thankful for time at Mom's and Bill's house, and back porch conversations.

I'm thankful for beautiful things to look at in nature like the tree above this picture, and this bright pink azalea bush. God is an amazing artist, and I love looking at His creation.

I'm thankful for audio books that are free on Spotify and also books that hold my short-spanned attention. Reading has been an issue for me the last few months, and I've been unable to finish even one book since January!

I'm thankful for afternoon naps after church that are so good that I woke up not knowing what day of the week it was.

I'm thankful for puppy cuddles with Stella while she naps on me in the afternoons. I love the little sounds puppies make, and their sweet smelling puppy breath. The older she gets, the more she grows on me! The puppy phase is not for the faint of heart.

I'm thankful for these ladies that have been in my book club since last June! I'm letting go of this in June; we're skipping May and will meet once in June to catch up and talk about what we're reading/listening to and loving. I'm doing this in anticipation of working full time again in the fall; I know I'll have to let some things go, and this one seemed like a no-brainer. I hope we stay in touch, because I've loved getting to know them. Or maybe we'll decide to meet every other month, instead of our usual monthly time. I don't know, but I'll be open minded to anything.

What are you thankful for this week? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!

Jenn ❤️🩷

  1. That picture from your mom's looks so peaceful. I am glad you (and Stella :) have had some good naps lately. I am thankful to be a part of the book club, even though I think I just read that first book, ha!

    1. It's so peaceful out there! I could hear the birds and insects; I love that. I am so glad you were in the book club!

  2. So much to be thankful for as always- you deserve all the good! That is funny- we probably have one of the same hecklers- they say horrible things but remain anonymous because they are "so brave" right? Just remember- they have no life and they are miserable so they have to try to create misery elsewhere- I feel sorry for the person honestly but won't dwell on a heckler- too much to be grateful for- so glad this community brought us together! :)

    1. Boo to rude anonymous commenters! But enough about her/him/them. Thank you, friend! I am so glad for that. This really is the sweetest little space in all of the world!

  3. Sunday naps are so good and I love that blue color in your room! (I am, admittedly, partial to blue walls as we have several rooms with some shade of blue!) The flowers are so pretty as well. Glad you have lots to be thankful for :).

    1. Yes they are! I'm also partial to blue, but my bedroom is my favorite; it's navy blue. It's so peaceful!

  4. Just a thought - if you weren't single right now you might not go to your mom's for dinner as much. Maybe you will look back on this as a sweet time full of things like that?

    1. That's true! I don't go as often anymore as I first did, because I'm keeping busier with friends, but you are so right. This will always be a really sweet time in my life that I'll look back on with extreme fondness.

  5. Do you ever use Libby? It's my go-to for audio books!
I'm loving all the spring colors too.

    1. I do, but I forgot that you can do audiobooks there! How does that work? Is it through your phone?

    2. Yep! It's an app and I listen to them on my phone. At work, in the car, while doing chores, etc. So convenient!
I have also done some e-books through Libby as well. AND you can check out magazines too. I love Libby

  6. You have a great list of things to be thankful for this week! I delete the snarky comments from my blog; on my blogger dashboard I just go to comments and keep reporting it as spam which automatically takes it off the comments section. And I completely agree with Kristen above-- I LOVE my Libby app. It's honestly the only way I listen to audiobooks anymore.

    1. I do! I am sorry you've also experienced those comments. It's frustrating! I would never read a book anymore if I couldn't listen to it instead.

  7. Sorry for the haters. They might not even be haters, just someone stirring up trouble. I know without a doubt I'm not cut out for a puppy at this point in time. Our dog is ten and I love old dogs. I love puppies too, but they require so much. Spring has been beautiful here too, minus the pollen. Hoping it's on its way out!

  8. Wow, the azalea bush is so beautiful! In 2020, I had a lot of trouble reading and that's when I started doing a lot of audiobooks. Now I am trying to return to the written word, but it's a process! Like the other commenters mentioned, Libby is the best app for audiobooks. You listen right in the app on your phone. I was getting those rude comments, so I switched on comment moderation and the person disappeared.

    1. Isn't it pretty? It's good to know that I'm not the only one who has gone through something like this with reading. I might end up having to moderate comments. Thanks, friend!
