Friday Favorites, 4.18.2025.

Happy Good Friday, friends. I'll have a normal post today, but I want to share a little about Good Friday first, and what it means to me personally. I remember when my youngest son Noah was little, he asked me a valid question: "Mom, why is it called Good Friday if Jesus died that day? That's not a good day." I remember being surprised by his question and having to take some time to pray and think before answering him, but here's what I told him and what I'll tell you today.

It's called Good Friday, because Jesus didn't stay dead. He was born fully human, fully God, and He was the only perfect Man to have ever walked on this earth. In spite of the perfect life Jesus lived, He was hated; so He was crucified in the same way that they crucified criminals. He died, but three days later when one of the women went to visit His tomb, the stone that had sealed its entrance was gone, and Jesus was not there. He was resurrected from the dead, so that's why this day is called Good Friday: He didn't stay dead!

He gives us good news, and in His death, we would never again be separated from God; Jesus is our intercessor (mediator, High Priest) between God the Father and me today. This is another reason why today is called Good Friday: this is good news for us today, because we can have a relationship with the Lord! After walking through the two most difficult years of my life, I can honestly say that if it weren't for Jesus, I wouldn't be standing today. Do you know Him?

I would be happy to talk to you more about this, so if you have questions or want to know more, will you email me? You can reach me at allboys@gmail.com. I pray this weekend is a beautiful time of celebration for you and your family, whatever that may look like.

On a much lighter note, I have some favorites from this week that I'd love to share today!

I went to my favorite store again on Saturday of last weekend; John Mark's shop is stunning right now. I couldn't get enough of this gorgeous table scape and centerpiece.

Nights spent in the country are my favorite! I went to Mom's and Bill's for dinner Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed sitting on their newly screened in back porch talking to Bill, and then Trish, when she came out to join us.

Sunsets are my favorite! I will always take the time to take a picture of one, no matter the fact that the picture never does it justice.

Stella hasn't reached the same "favorite status" that her big sister Chloe has in my eyes, but she sure is a little baby doll. She's growing on me slowly but surely.

This was a week of me doing things I've not had to do since being on my own! On Monday morning, I went to get two new tires for my vehicle. Being able to drive safely again is my favorite, and so is the fact that Graham's young friend took excellent care of me! He was so fast that I didn't have time to read even a few pages of my book.

Jonah's favorite place to be is on a riding mower. I'm so appreciative that he takes such excellent care of our yardwork, and that he's my roommate.

This is not my favorite picture, but these ladies in book club are among my!

Tuesday night dinner with Marilyn at The Salad Station was my favorite! We love their salads. Know that as we took this picture, we had just finished cracking up over the funniest thing ever that was only funny to the two of us. We're borderline obnoxious, much like middle school girls! 🤣

Holding baby Jolene on Wednesday night will always be a favorite...

...and so will these pink pants that I wore that day. This butterfly is one that I got that day at church; I gave this one to Marilyn!

These two new songs are my current favorites right now!

Here are all my favorite outfits from this week! Do you have one that's your favorite? I love getting dressed everyday!

Just a reminder and some blog business/dates to tell you about since we're nearing the end of the month. 🤣 First up is that April's Share 4 Somethings will take place on Saturday April 26th; if you're new here, all year long on the last Saturday of each month, we share some things we loved, some things we learned, some things that went well, and some things we let go of. The topics stay the same for each month. May's Currently link party will take place on Wednesday May 7th; in May we'll be talking about what we're currently loving, looking forward to, leaving behind, letting go of, and looking at. Again, for anyone new here who wants to participate, the topics for Currently change each month; I provide the next month's prompts at the bottom of that post, and this always takes place on the first Wednesday of every month. I hope you make plans now to join me for both of these each month! Meanwhile, I'll try to be better at giving you reminders.

Here are my blog posts from the week:

Monday was Hello Monday.
Tuesday was your favorite; a letter from me to you that I titled, Dear Married People.
Wednesday was a hodgepodge post!
Thursday was Good Things From the Week

What was a favorite from your week? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!

  2. The adjective "good" in front of Friday on the day of Jesus' death does seem incongruent until you know the meaning. I remember one of my kids asking the same thing when younger. Your week sounds like it was filled with good things- I hope that continues into the weekend and that you have a joy filled Easter Sunday!

  10. Happy Easter to you and yours! You and your blog have come to mean so much more to me this year as I battle cancer (one - ONLY one more chemo to go) and I am so thankful for you and your reminders of just how blessed we all are. I don't know how anyone makes it through one single day when they don't know our Lord and Savior.

Praise God for the end of your chemo! You did it, my friend. I hope you celebrate big! You have earned it! I always say the same thing- I can't imagine anyone having to live life without Jesus!
