Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a great weekend! Mine was pretty good, for the most part; I had some ups and downs and I'll share them here in today's post.
My Friday was rough. I don't know why exactly, and can't pinpoint one particular thing that made it that way, but it felt like a culmination of things set me off that day. I cried for most of the morning and just had a good old fashioned pity party. Once I finally pulled myself together, I got dressed and left my house after lunch. I had a few errands to run, so I did that, and then I met my sweet friend Dedee for coffee at my favorite little coffee shop that's close to me, Congregation Coffee.
Is this not the most adorable coffee place? I love it here. I ordered a cold brew coffee with zero sugar salted caramel syrup and a splash of fat free cream. It was delicious!
I came home after coffee and changed for my evening plans since it was cool outside, and then I drove to my friend Lynda's house to pick her up. We went to a local place called Skybox and had dinner. It was packed on a Friday night! We sat at the bar and enjoyed the atmosphere of being in a crowd on a Friday night watching March Madness. We both ran into people we knew!
I love to people watch and the bartender was funny. Bonus!
I got dressed and met up with Marilyn on Saturday! We went to lunch first, and ate at The Salad Station, then we ran to Target for things we both needed, then parted ways. I didn't feel good after lunch, so I was glad to be home for the rest of the evening. Jonah came home with his new baby girl, and that was all I did for the rest of the day other than taking a shower and washing my hair. Stella is cute, but she's a punk! I don't know that I signed on for this, and I'm honestly not super excited about her, to tell you the truth.
Sunday dawned bright and early; I got this little punk and took her out and then tried to make her take a nap while she barked at her big sister. I was dressed and ready for church by six, and out the door at seven.
After church I went to lunch with Mom, Bill, and their friends, Pam and Harrell. Pam and Mom have been best friends for seventy five years! Isn't that amazing?
I came home after lunch and walked on the treadmill, then took a nap in my actual bed. I never do that, but the day and my mood called for it! I was home a lot this weekend and changed my plans right after my nap.
I came to Marilyn's house for a hodgepodge dinner, and then we worked on our blogs together!
This is what you call real life, friends.
What did you do this weekend that you loved? I would love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends! Love to all.
Jenn ❤️
Okay, I need to find a local friend I can get together and blog with. That sounds fun! I did a puzzle this weekend and other than that, stayed inside too much. It was a dreary weekend hovering around freezing and I sulked inside, drinking a lot of tea. I want spring!
ReplyDeleteIt was so much fun! I think we both know how grateful and fortunate we are to have each other, especially as we sat and wrote blog posts for the week while watching a show on the TV for background noise. I hope you get to enjoy some spring weather soon!
DeleteI would also describe Eddie Otis as a punk. I had bite marks all down both arms. While he was sweet, he was also super bitey and just wild. He is becoming sweeter and easier but man, what did I sign up for? I honestly was resentful a lot over the last year. We've never had a dog bark like he does and that just rattles me.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you had some downs this weekend but I think you are still grieving.
I hope you feel better today.
Yes! I know you have felt that way. Today Stella was better, but she had a lot of accidents. I'm having to practice patience and grace toward her since she's such a baby and has had her world changed so much. Thank you for checking in on me today!
DeleteOh I do not envy you having a new puppy in the house; they are oh so cute but oh so much work! That nap sounds heavenly.
ReplyDeleteI don't envy myself either! 🤣
DeleteWhat a cute puppy!
ReplyDeleteShe really is, thank you!
DeleteThis past weekend was my "lost time" weekend (nausea is intense the weekend after chemo - but I'm halfway done!) so I didn't do much at all but your son's puppy reminds me that Friday, we'll be watching our grandpups - a Pomsky and a black Lab - along with our own Jack Russell......and our 16 year old granddaughter and 8 year old grandson for a week. I'm not sure what I signed up for! Of all of them, our own dog is the biggest diva!
ReplyDeletePraise God for the almost half done mark! Oh, boy...what HAVE you signed up for? 🤣
DeleteYour town is so cute ! Oh that puppy is adorable , but I do remember the adjustment of adding another dog to the family, A teacher I had not seen in several years stopped to visit (unannounced)Saturday morning and stayed for two hours…..unexpected but glad I was able to listen to and validate some life issues she is facing. Have a blessed week !
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love it here so much. That's so sweet that your friend stopped by like that! I am sure that was such a blessing for you both, and how cool that she stopped by unannounced! I love visits like that!
DeleteLove that you and your bestie both blog. What is her blog called? I miss having a pup but our kitties are perfect for our lifestyle right now. How incredible that your mom and her BFF have been pals for so long.
ReplyDeleteI love it too! She is Memphis Bridges...it's a Blogspot (Blogger) site, so you should be able to quickly find her. Thank you for the sweet words! I love my mom's and Pam's friendship...what a gift.
DeleteHow sweet that your mom and her bestie have been friends for so long. I'm almost half way there with mine! lol
ReplyDeleteIsn't that amazing?! I love that about you and your girls as well!
DeleteOh I am sorry it was a tough one friend- I find that sadness comes in waves- you got this- love seeing how blessed you are with amazing friends and family- they will continue to lift you up, the way you lift others up- XO
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's okay and just kind of par for the course, you know? You are right, it does come in waves, and big ones! I'm just rolling with them and getting out as much as possible. Thank you for your sweet words, my friend. I'm so encouraged by you everyday! xoxo
DeleteSending love and hugs. So sorry your Friday morning wasn't great, I am glad the day got better.
ReplyDeleteYour friends daughters car is fab!
Uh-oh! Stella sounds like trouble. Eek but she's only young, I am sure she'll calm down a little as she gets older.
That is so cool that you and Marilyn worked on your blogs together, I would love someone near me to do that with.
Thank you, friend! Isn't that Jeep amazing? She is trouble, but today is better. I love that about me and Marilyn! I wish you had that, my friend. It's such a gift.
DeleteOur puppy Mollie is a real handful, and I had lots of second thoughts about adopting her! I hope the new pup settles down and into a routine. And that makes it even harder since it is really J's dog. I'm glad you got out and about to hang out with some friends and family, despite having some down moments. So hard!
ReplyDeleteI remember her being that way when you first got her! I totally get that. Thank you for that, friend! I always appreciate your kind words. Love you!
DeleteI'm not cut out for puppy antics these days. Hopefully everyone gets in the groove soon. Wow-friends for 75 years! How awesome is that??! A real life blog friend is also lots of fun. So glad you have found one another online and in real life too. Have a great week!
