Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend? Was it a snowy one like mine? I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah for today's post. Because of all the snow, I was at home all weekend; it was actually lovely and wonderful. I just did things around the house that I have been wanting to do, and things that I needed to do to play catch-up from falling behind. I'll show you what I was up to...
I always love seeing the snow as it's falling and while it's fresh on the ground. I was outside with the dogs at this point, and someone named Chloe got the zoomies the second her little feet touched the snow.
I haven't shown this here yet, but my sister gave me this adorable pillow for Christmas. Isn't it cute?
I've been getting so much out of the book of Job lately! I think it's because of my life circumstances, but when I haven't loved this book before, I do right now. I heard Tara-Leigh Cobble say last week that when you're going through something hard, that's when people get a lot out of the book of Job. I thought that was interesting!
...and this one was taken at her house on November 22nd. I was there when she met her now-husband for the first time, I was there when he traveled halfway across the country to meet us that summer, I was a part of him proposing to her, and I saw her get married. Her adorable kids are some of my favorites! I am looking forward to spending time with them in the next week or two.
Lastly, this quote was in that binder I mentioned. I love this quote by JRR Tolkien! I felt like my house was like this when my sons were growing up; I pray that it's still that way now. My greatest hope is for people to feel loved, welcomed, and cherished. More importantly, I want them to feel the love of Jesus when they're in my home.
What did you do this weekend? I'd love to hear from you! Thank you for reading my blog today, friends, and thank you for your kind comments. Speaking of that, will you do me a favor from today on?
I've noticed that a lot of the comments I get now are from "Anonymous"; some of you are sweet to leave your name there for me to see that it's an actual reader and not just someone trolling here like I suspect. Even if you don't have an account to sign into to give a name to your comment, will you tell me your name if you comment anonymously? One kind reader emailed me on Saturday morning letting me know that she was one of the anonymous commenters, and she told me how another anonymous person commented under her comment on this Friday Favorites post from last week, which made me think it was the same person. Does that make sense? Thank you in advance.
Today is a great day to have a great day, so let's all go do that now, okay? Love to all!
P.s. Did you read my bonus post from Saturday? Here's a link if you missed that one...it was a long overdue installment of The Cozy Chronicles series that I started and stopped last year. You should consider reading all the comments; I've never had anything like that happen here before, but it's highly entertaining. On a lighter note, I have lots of posts already written and scheduled this week, so I'll see you back here tomorrow.
Jenn 🖤
I don't provide my real name on any internet site, that goes ditto for social media platforms which I don't use, due to the fact that they are big government and corporate surveillance tools. I do comment on Disqus mostly political sites under the username Sweetallysum. It was me who left the joke about the nails in reply to another anonymous comment. Indeed the exchange yesterday was quite lively like some of the political sites, not the usual pablum that is the order of the day on lifestyle blogs. I prefer more lively exchanges and out of the box commentary, it's only the internet not real life after all!
ReplyDeleteI understand if you don't want to put your name out there; thanks for letting me know that was you that commented about short nails. I literally laughed out loud when I read your comment! Yeah...I don't like the liveliness of how the comments ended up being; that's never happened before on my blog, and I'm hoping it won't happen again. You must have enjoyed the exchanges if you like them livelier than the usual fluff! I confess that for me it was nerve wracking. Thanks again for telling me why you don't give a name. I hope you come back often and comment!
DeleteLove all of the coziness in this post- I am going to check out the Book of Job- thank you for sharing- truly appreciate it- you always have the right outlook on life and it is very inspirational to me XO
ReplyDeleteYou should! It can get long and tedious, but the overall gist of it is that Job was a righteous man, blameless in God's eyes. Satan approached God one day and suggested that if everything was taken away from Job that maybe he wouldn't be such a godly man. So God let Satan test Job, but God made Satan promise to not touch Job. He ended up losing everything: his home, animals, sons, maybe more. He mourned the loss that he experienced, but he still worshiped God and said, "The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord." His three friends came to comfort him and gave him terrible advice, and then at the end, God starts speaking. At the end of his life, Job had even more than what he started with!
DeleteI've been looking for traits of God in the book of Job; God is Creator, Redeemer, patient, loving, and sovereign! It's been wonderful. I hope you enjoy it when you read, and thank you for the kind words!
It sounds like you embraced your snowy weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove that Chloe was so happy. Did she have a playmate dog that enjoyed it with her?
I am back to reality today but we have a 2 hour delay for students and a 1 hour delay for teachers. That means I will have about 1.5 hours to re-work my lesson for a shorter class period. It's actually nice to ease in this way. It will be good to see people! I'm going to curl my hair! I'm going to put on real clothes!
We still have lots of snow on the ground and ice on the roads.
Thank you for continuing to put yourself out there even with anonymous people. I do think many people have trouble figuring out how to register their name! But, some people do not have trouble. He!
I hope you have a nice week with some normal routine and some fun thrown in.
I did! Chloe loved it, but Callie was more laid back about the snow. It's kind of nice that you get to start the week like that! I hope you're able to make the most of your day and the shorter classes you'll have. Yay for curly hair and real clothes! Thanks for that, my friend. I do agree that some people don't know how to register their name, or maybe they don't have the time to do that. I hope the same for your week!
DeleteFreshly fallen snow looks really pretty! Our temps warmed up on Sunday but not enough to melt much at all. I don't use fake plants in decor. I do have several real ones. I don't think I am good with plants, per se, but I have been able to keep the real ones alive. I'm sure that dogs love the snow!! What's not to love, lol? Have a great Monday!
ReplyDeleteI love it too and think the same! Ours is mostly melted now; it'll be gone by tomorrow, I'm guessing since our temps are reaching the upper 40's today. Yay for keeping the plants alive! I don't, which is why I prefer the fake ones, but I am doing great with the two I have. Do you have work today? I hope you enjoy your day!
DeleteWhat a lovely cosy weekend! It sounds like Chloe had a great time in the snow.
ReplyDeleteI love what you have added to your wall.
I saw the drama on the comments on Saturday! Oh dear!
It was; I hope yours was the same! Thanks for that, friend. Oh, dear is right! Yikes!
DeleteWe still have lots of snow (We got 12 inches last Sunday and then another 2 on Thursday niight). It's pretty - but I'm over it. LOL. That pillow is adorable. Bows seem to be all the rage these days!
ReplyDeleteWow! I would be over it, too! I'm glad ours played out like it did: it only snowed on Friday and was mostly melted by Sunday. The rest of it will melt today, since our temps are a lot warmer. I hope yours melts sometime soon! Thanks, friend. I hope you have a great day!
DeleteWe had a really nice quiet weekend too. I love plants, but I'm no good with them. So I now use artificial plants in my home and I love them. For some reason I cannot post comments from my iPhone or iPad with my name attached. It always posts as anonymous. So I try to only post comments from my laptop. I really have no idea why the change. Makes me wonder if others are having the same problem. I need to do a bit of research and see if I can fix this problem. Hope you have a great week!
