Happy bonus blog post day! I couldn't resist when I saw what this one was about; I don't know that I'll join in with this link party every month, but I will when the topics are easy for me to write about. I'm linking up with several ladies who co-host this monthly event. Here are a few things that I do to save time when it comes to household chores.
- I clean a little everyday
- I put things back where they belong after I've used them
- When I get dressed for the day, I fold my pajamas and either hang them in my closet or put them at the end of my bed
- I keep things organized to keep things from getting messy and cluttered
- I take care of paper clutter immediately, meaning that I sort the mail into piles and throw away the junk
- I vacuum everyday because of the dogs
- I mop up a mess quickly
- I hand wash the dishes that I use to save space in the dishwasher
- I use a Swiffer duster almost everyday (again, because of the dogs)
- I have places for specific things, like blankets and lighters for my candles
- I keep my bed either made completely or I'll at least neaten it by straightening the covers
Now that it's just Jonah and me in my home, this is easy to do! We are very clean/organized/clutter-less people; this is one out of a thousand reasons why we're such great roommates. That being said, when a mess is made, I immediately clean it up if I've made it; he does the same. We've gotten into a really good routine of helping each other out; when I make dinner, he cleans the kitchen. I'll help him put the clean sheets back on his bed, and he often does the same for me when it's my turn to do mine. When I'm getting ready for the day, I go ahead and fold my pajamas and put them at the end of my bed, or I hang them in my closet. I put the things away that I've used to get ready, like makeup and hair products. I hang the towels I've used in my bathroom to allow them to air dry before folding them neatly to hang on the towel bars. I wash bathroom rugs regularly, and blankets that I use or that the dogs use. I do very little laundry these days, so the washing machine is always open and easy to throw things in for quick wash.
My home is far from perfect, but it's good enough for Jonah and me. That's all I can ask for, right?
What do you do to save time for chores at home? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my bonus blog post today, friends. Here's my weekend recap post that I shared earlier today if you missed it. Love to all!

I believe in putting my things back when I use them but my kids are always moving things to new places and forgetting where they put them!
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot in common though I really can't imagine the day when our washer or dishwasher isn't running (what feels like) constantly!
ReplyDeleteYou sound like my kind of roommate! “Putting things away instead of down “ helps so much with clutter. So fun to see pics of your cozy home!
ReplyDeleteI love the owl.
