Happy Friday, friends! I'm linking up with
Andrea and
Erika for today's blog post. I hope you've had a good week! Mine has been good, which is different than how I thought it would be after how the weekend wrapped up. I will take that as a win! I have some favorites from this week, and I thought I'd share.
I recently found my little frother and have been enjoying my coffee (or hot chocolate) with frothy creamer. This cup is my favorite! It makes me think of my sisters, because we all got similar or matching ones while we were together in Denver.
This brand of candle is my favorite! It's the DW Home brand from Home Goods and was a birthday gift from my sister. Isn't the tree on the top of it fun? In my opinion, this brand really smells your house up the best, and the scent lasts for hours after you've blown it out.
Making things semi-homemade is one of my favorite cooking hacks. Do you remember that show with Sandra Lee back in the day? It was called Semi-Homemade, and that's where I learned to take something easy and fancy it up with something homemade.
I made the funfetti cake from a box, then I made my own cream cheese frosting with cream cheese and powdered sugar. I used a bit of the green vanilla frosting and mixed it in to make it green and then added Christmas sprinkles. It was delicious! Jonah and Graham have been enjoying it this week. This was at book club Monday night, and the cake perfectly matched Marilyn's cake stand!
Her home looked so beautiful and Christmas-y!
I am so thankful for this sweet friend! She has quickly become one of my favorite humans on earth!
My tree is still my favorite, and I loved seeing Oakley asleep so close to it; the dogs even seem to enjoy the tree like we do!
I forgot I also enjoyed another piece of the cake one night; how cute are these little Christmas tree plates?
I was checking my lipstick that I had just applied and accidentally took this picture of myself. 🤣
This is one of my favorite images from social media this week! It's eerily true for my life right now. What was a favorite of yours from this week? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!
Jenn 🖤
That cake looks so good and does match the cake platter and the slice of it looks so cute on the festive plate (breakable or paper plates- I love all festive plates :)). Your lipstick is looking good. Also I never accidentally take a picture of myself and have it turn out well like yours did, lol. Have a great Friday and wonderful birthday weekend :).
ReplyDeleteI love all festive plates, too! Thanks, friend!
DeleteSo glad it was a great week! Yes your Christmas tree is one of my favorites. So pretty. So glad you and Marilyn have gotten so close- love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am so thankful for her friendship.
DeleteThat cake is beautiful! I just love a bundt. The frosting matching the cake stand is perfect! your lipstick is on point! Tomorrow is your day! Wishing a wonderful day for you because you deserve it!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love a bundt cake.
DeleteThat candle does sound fabulous and looks so pretty too! I enjoyed having book club here. Can't wait to celebrate you, one of my favorites too, this weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful! I love that smell. Thank you, friend!
DeleteWhat a festive cake! I hope you have a fantastic birthday weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWow; that cake really did match the cake stand perfectly! I used to have a book called Cake Mix Doctor and it was all about simple ways to doctor up a boxed cake to make it a bit more homemade (of course I have since been cajoled to get rid of it since Alec is typically scandalized by any sort of baking mix! LOL).
ReplyDeleteIsn't that great? I bet that was a great cook book. I totally get you tossing it out, though. It's nice to have a baker in the family!
DeleteThat's great that you have had a good week!
ReplyDeleteThat cup of coffee looks so good and making things semi-homemade is sensible! The cake looks great, I love how it matches the cake stand. Your friendship with Marylin is so sweet.
Thank you! I love doing things to make something simple more festive.
DeleteDo you remember how Sandra Lee, on her tv show, would change out her kitchen curtains to go with the theme of that day's show? It was fun to watch and your cake turned out pretty. I love the candle, especially the top. I wish I had a Home Goods closer to my house. It's a drive to get to one. Glad you had a nice week...hope that trend continues through the weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes! I remember that. Thank you! I love that store so much; I'm sure you love to go there as a treat sometimes!
DeleteYour cake looks delicious! And yes I remember Semi-homemade with Sandra Lee. I loved that show. Hope you have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I loved that show so much. I hope you're enjoying your wekeend!
DeleteI remember that cooking show. You redecorated the kitchen every week to match the theme! It was over the top!! But her recipes were so "real"! Oakley looks quite Christmas cozy sleeping there. How many dogs do you have with you now?? Hope you have a lovely weekend ahead!
ReplyDeleteYes! I didn't do all that to that extent, but it was a great show. I have two in my home now, but I've had Graham's dogs for the last week. He was out of town, then he was in a wedding with lots of festivities going on.
DeleteThe bundt cakes looks good, I often add one small finely grated zucchini squash (peeled) to cake recipes, which makes the texture moist and lengthens shelf life. Sandra Lee had a pretty decent run on the cooking show circuit, now she's too busy with her Algerian toy-boy to bother with recipe tips.
ReplyDeleteThank you! That's a great idea. I have never heard of that!
DeleteYes! I loved Sandra Lee's show!!! And that cake looks delicious! Have you ever tried the chocolate funfetti cake mix??? So good! I love the Christmas tree plate. It looks like my favorite brand, Rifle Paper Company? Anyway, have a cozy Christmas weekend, my lovely friend.
ReplyDeleteI did too! Thanks for that. I've never heard of a chocolate funfetti cake! The plates are just from Home Goods, but I do love that brand.
DeleteI hadn't thought about the Sandra Lee show for some time but it was a great show and your cake is a great example of semi-homemade! YUM! Your tree (and your friend's) both look so inviting! One of my favorite things about this season... the glow of the tree! Wishing you a great start to a new week, Jennifer!
ReplyDeleteI loved that show! Thank you for that!
