Happy Tuesday, friends! I thought I'd talk about a few things I want to remember this Christmas season. I'm asking you to chime in at the end!
I don't want to take for granted this time of year, what it means and the reason why we celebrate. It's easy to become overwhelmed with life, particularly during this season. I want to remember that time spent with the Lord is of the utmost importance to start my days in the right way. I also want to spend time in prayer praying for those that I know of who are lost.
I plan on spending some nights driving around looking at Christmas lights and will find people to go with me. Well, people or dogs. I love taking dogs to see lights, because they love them and can see them really well when the windows are rolled down a bit.
I hope I can continue with my Christmas book reading streak, but it's not looking very promising.
I am already making new memories this year, and I'm loving that! This will continue next weekend with the plans I already have in place. I'm excited for this!
I've already watched The Holiday and The Family Stone, but I'll probably rewatch one or both. I think those are my two favorite, alone with White Christmas being at the top.
I've already been singing loudly for all to hear! I play Christmas music at work all week, and have already been caught doing this.
Mission accomplished with the festive clothing!
I'm trying to get into the habit of writing more, and also saying yes to as much as possible. I have too much free time on my hands!
And lastly, I want to remember to put on love each and everyday. This is a crazy busy time of year in stores nationwide; I want to remember to be patient, loving, and kind to the dear people who I'll come across working long hours this holiday season.
What would you add to this list? I'd love to hear! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!

I would say that you have covered a lot here! One thing that I try to enjoy is the beauty that is specific to this time of year from the lights on trees to beautiful holiday dishes (I wrote about mine in a post just today) to beautifully wrapped presents nestled under the tree. There is so much visual goodness this time of year. Completely agree about the love and the reason for the season :).
ReplyDeleteI love that- there is so much visual goodness! I am trying to soak it all in while also mentally encouraging myself to enjoy it while also kind of wanting it to be over. Does that even make sense? 🤣
DeleteThat is a fabulous list!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried reading/searching for Christmas books that aren't romance (if that's the problem you have reading them this year?) I did a quick search and found some that sound really cute (and dog centric!) on this list: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/46714.Christmas_Novels_That_Aren_t_Romance
DeleteThat's a nice list. I'm going to try to get a couple of those from my library.
DeleteThank you! It's not necessarily the type of books, but the inability to focus for too long. I need short and sweet right now, but I'm reading another really great book, so fingers crossed! Thank you for that list, I'm going to check that out now.
DeleteJoanne - thanks for posting this list!
DeleteLove your list- it screams JOY- I would add 1. Make a festive recipe or two 2. Make a festive cocktail 3. Get my wrapping done early (i dread this one unfortunately)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Those are great ideas to add to the list.
DeleteGreat list and great ideas, holly! Great idea, Joanne! I am going to send you two recs via text, Jenn!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm always open to book recs, so I'll look for those.
DeleteWhat a fantastic list! I think I will be doing all of those things too!
ReplyDeleteI think I need to get some Christmas sweaters. My eldest has a few and has been wearing them already. I am hoping to do some Christmas baking and get all the prep done by the middle of the month.
Thank you! You should find one or two to add to your closet. They bring me such joy!
DeleteI love looking at christmas lights too!
ReplyDeleteIt's such an easy thing to do!
DeleteMost definitely volunteering! I do it all year around (that's my church - doing what Jesus preached) but at Christmas there are so many ways to give. I always get Santa letters from the NYC post office - the letters are often heartwrenching (sheets for my mom) and you fill the wishes and ship them anonymously. Things are about to get worse for many people and to me, helping others is the reason for the season!
ReplyDeleteYes! That's a great one to add to the list. I'll be doing some of that as well! I love that you do that with the post office and fulfill some wishes. What a wonderful way to give back!
DeleteGreat list and I hope you can do them all. Our biggie on your list are looking at Christmas lights. Hubby and I love doing this!
ReplyDeleteThank you! That's such a fun and easy thing to do.
DeleteThat's a pretty comprehensive and positive list. If I were doing a list I would add exercise more, which is a good remedy for stress that can come from holiday activities like consuming excessive sweets, booze and shopping too much. The only one I would omit is the singing loud, sometimes that can attract unwanted attention from the mentally challenged and criminal types.
ReplyDeleteI try to be! Well, I can definitely see people wanting to omit the singing one, but I am a singer. I love to sing all the time, but some of the songs we sing in church right now are my favorite.
DeleteYour post makes me realize that I have never seen White Christmas?! You look so festive standing on your cute porch ! A couple weeks after our hard working, female FedEx driver shared how some people on the route have been unkind, we gave her a gift card to her favorite restaurant (Olive Garden) and she was so grateful ! After that I learned from a friend that this driver’s son has been murdered a few months ago, so we really don’t know what people are going through.
ReplyDeleteYou have got to watch that! I think that's nice that you gave a gift card to your delivery person. You never know what people are going through! A little kindness and a smile sure go a long way.
DeleteI like the list and think its so easy to lose the plot this time of year. If I lived nearby I'd drive around with you. I love going out to see the lights. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteIt is! Aw, I wish we could do that! I love looking at them. I hope your day has been good!
DeleteI love your list, and it inspires me to be more festive. And by the way, who in the world is "anonymous" who is commenting?
