ageless style: cream and brown

Happy Thursday, friends! This month we're talking about the colors cream and brown and how we incorporate them into our wardrobe. I have to confess that I didn't think I had a lot of cream and brown, but the more I started looking, the more I found.

This flowy shirt has become one of my favorites! My sister Debi bought this at a boutique and when it didn't work for her, she sent it to me. I have loved wearing it this fall! It's varying shades of brown with black combined, and it's a low/high hemline. I wear a black camisole underneath this all the time, because it can be short in the front when the slippery material slides down in the back.

I love wearing this taupe colored shirt I bought last year. I wear it with jeans, white pants, black pants, with sandals, tennis shoes, flats, or wedges. I let the weather dictate the shoes that I wear, and when it's hot, I prefer to wear sandals.

I think this is a shade of brown? It's more cayenne, I suppose, but I like to wear this as above or with jeans or white pants. I'm loving wearing white pants this fall! Why have I never done that before?

This Umgee cream colored top is another favorite, and one that can be worn a million different ways. I bought this last year as well, and consider it a great staple piece. I need to wash it and stretch it back out, since it's shrunk a bit in length.

These Dr. Scholl's sneakers are a favorite, and they're in that same taupe family and can be worn with anything.

I love a poncho! I wore this on a cooler day with pants that were the same olive color with my cream colored graphic tee underneath.

I've always loved this sweater, but this outfit was my least favorite from last week, even though I started off by loving it. By the time I got home, I was ready to be in something that hadn't grown in size. Or maybe I should start wearing it only with fitted pants or leggings. I don't know, but I'm debating getting rid of this sweater since this happens almost every time I wear it. I love the mocha color that it is, though, and think it's flattering on most anyone.

Those are the ways I incorporate these colors into my wardrobe. Do you have a favorite outfit or color combo from above? What's your favorite shade of brown to wear this time of year? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog, friends. Love to all!

    1. I didn't think I would at first, but I was wrong! Thank you for that. I love the shoes too, but more than anything I love how comfy they are. The support in them is excellent! I have issues with most tennis shoes, so I was glad to find those.

  2. As I got to the last picture I immediately stopped to love the brown and pink combination and was like, I love this sweater. I could totally see it being cute with some leggings and booties, because it's nice and long like a tunic. Anyway, I think if a sweater doesn't make you feel good it doesn't matter what others think it's a donation pile item. I also love the cayenne colored top as well, so vibrant.

    1. Thank you! After reading all of these comments, I'm rethinking the decision to donate the sweater. I think I need to just wear it with leggings and boots instead of how I wore it in this photo.

  3. You have so many cute brown and cream pieces! I actually love the last sweater the most, the one you are tempted to get rid of. It looks so cheerful to me. I also love the outfit with the vest.

I hope you don't give away that sweater because it's super fabulous. You could always use a belt underneath it to tuck it up under to crop it?

  7. I think I need to double check my closet and see if I have more in this shade than I thought. I love the oatmeal-creams-tans but don't have a lot of browns. I love the top your sister sent you!

  8. I have seen several gals with polka dots in posts this week and have decided I need some more polka dots in my life. I love that mocha sweater. Hate that it stretches or grows when you wear it because the color is so pretty on you. Could you wash and dry it and hope it shrinks?
The top your sissy shared with you is fabulous. I really like the print and the combo of browns and black. It looks great on you, too.
Didn't know there were Dr. Scholl's tennis shoes. Now I do!! I bet they are super comfy. They sure are cute.

    1. Thank you! I need to try washing it in hot water. That's a good idea, I appreciate the suggestions! Those are the most comfortable shoes; I wore them again just last night with some new jeans I bought this fall that are (very) wide legged.
