weekending

Happy Monday, friends! I hope you had a good weekend! I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah for today's post. Did you do anything fun this weekend? Here's what I was up to...

I love a morning when I don't have to rush off; after I did some things in my home Friday morning, I finally got around to getting dressed and leaving for a few errands. When I got to my first stop of the day, this was what greeted me: a parking lot full of gorgeous trees that were bright with fall foliage. This brought a smile to my face, because it surprised me.

My first stop was my happy place! It's been way too long since I've been there, and I am reminded that I need to stop in more often, and I'm going to try to start doing this weekly again. We have such a wonderful library, and I really enjoy going each time I'm there. I didn't find the book I was looking for, but I did find some books to bring home. I placed a hold on the one I was looking for.

I thought all of these looked interesting, so they came home with me. I am particularly excited about the book on hygge.

After this, I ran one personal errand and one work errand, and then I stayed home for the rest of the day. I ate lunch, did a few things around the house, and watched TV. Graham stopped by that night to pick up the baby dogs to take back home with him, and I got to feed him dinner while he was here. I will always love doing that! I stayed up late Friday night talking to my sister Lisa, which I always love. I actually laid in bed while chatting with her, then I watched Reba until I fell asleep.

I slept in until after 7 Saturday morning, which is unheard of! I made coffee, then sat down to watch one of my favorite Hallmark Christmas movies, Noel Next Door. Have you seen this one? My plans for Saturday included meeting up with Mom and Trish; we ran a couple of errands, ate lunch, and ended the day with my dad's gravesite.

We made another trip to John Mark's so that Trish could see the store decked out for Christmas. I never mind going over there!

This is the rotunda where Dad's funeral was held. It was a dreary day by this point, so we wrapped up our time together right after this.

When I got home, I had a package on my porch containing this: the teddy bear my sister-in-law made me from one of Dad's old shirts. I love it so much!

Clearly, the trees are showing off right now! These last two pictures were taken on the street at the end of mine.

I love Mom's and Bill's side porch right now; I went to their house for dinner on Saturday night, and then I came home pretty early because it was getting extremely foggy. Sunday was noneventful; I had planned something fun after church, but I had to cancel. I came home with a terrible headache and tried to sleep it off that afternoon. I had dinner and watched movies for the rest of the night.

How was your weekend? What did you do that you loved? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog, friends. Love to all!

Jenn 🖤

  3. Sounds like a good weekend with a good mix of productivity and time at home and socializing. That teddy bear is so cute and special. My mom had pillows made for all the grandchildren but they have a goofy poem on them. I think it would have been better plain. That makes me sound like a brat. But, you know what I mean when there is a good idea but someone takes it too far?
I tried to find a good Hallmark movie this weekend so I do need your recs. Keep 'em coming!

    1. It was, and even though it was quieter than I'd planned, it was probably a good thing since the next one will be super busy while I'm out of town. I know that I need quiet to charge/recharge for/from a busy weekend coming up. I get that about the pillow, and I don't think it makes you sound bratty. Stay tuned for tomorrow's post...

  4. That teddy bear is so adorable and what a great idea! After my dad passed away, my sister took all of his deer horns (that were around the house) and made us all wreaths out of them. It's such a special momento of my dad. Sounds like you needed a low-key weekend :) Here's to an amazing week!

    1. Thank you! I thought so too. I love that idea that your sister did with the deer horns he had! I do think it was a welcome thing, this weekend that started and ended quietly. I hope your week is great, my friend. I'm still thinking of and praying for both you and David!

  5. I love that bear, what a great idea! We had game night with some friends on Saturday night and celebrated my nephew's first birthday on Sunday afternoon followed by some lazyness watching football. It was a good weekend.
I love the library too - I have gotten to where I just pop in to pickup hold items, I need to get back to browsing.

  6. That teddy bear is such a sweet remembrance of your dad. We enjoyed watching our 10 year old grandson’s baseball team win a tournament, but it was hot! Hoping for cooler temps and rain by Thursday. Wishing you many blessings for the coming week!

  8. Sorry to hear about your headache! The teddy bear is such a thoughtful gift and I know you will treasure having that reminder of your dad. You will like the hygge book. I read it a few years ago (really just skimmed it) and it will really get you ready for a cozy winter.

    1. Thank you! I will cherish it always. I went to read it, and the print is tiny and not very dark! I had to put it down, but maybe I can just skim through.

  11. I love all things hygge and have read The Little Book of Hygge that you have on your stack. It had lots of good ideas. That stuffed bear made from your dad's shirt is the sweetest thing! What a wonderful idea!

    1. I do too! I tried to read it, but the print was tiny and the ink was too light, so I gave up. That annoys me when publishers do that with books/ink for us folks with bad eyes. Isn't that such a sweet idea? I love it so much!
