favorite movies & shows

Happy Tuesday, friends! I'm linking up with Joanne for today's fun blog post. I've been watching a lot of TV lately since I'm not reading much right now; there have been some great movies on lately that I thought I'd share with you today. There are so many Hallmark Christmas movies that it can almost be overwhelming, so if you feel like that as well, then today's post is all for you. (Watch me get through this entire list, by the way; at this rate, I will!)

Before we get to Christmas, I have a few favorite fall/Halloween movies that are also worth mentioning.

I rewatch this movie every year, because it's one of my favorites!

I also love watching this show, although I don't rewatch it every year. I love Catherine Bell, and she makes the show. I watch most things on Hallmark plus; for about $10 a month, you have all the movies and shows you want to watch at your fingertips, all of which are commercial free. When I start living on my own, I play to keep this streaming channel along with Frndly TV ($7 monthly) and I'll become a second (separate) user of Netflix on one of my son's accounts and pay them the difference.

Here's the schedule of Christmas movies for this year! Out of the five from October that have already aired, I've watched them all; my favorite by far was The 5 Year Christmas Party, and second to that was Scouting For Christmas.

Some of the older ones I love are:

  • Christmas Waltz
  • Never Kiss a Man Wearing a Christmas Sweater
  • Norwegian Holiday
  • My Christmas Guide
  • Tis the Season to be Merry
  • An Unexpected Christmas
  • My Christmas Family Tree
  • A Very Merry Bridesmaid

The shows I'm watching right now are:

  • Grey's Anatomy (I have vowed to be done, but I can't let it go) (Hulu)
  • Gilmore Girls (Netflix)
  • Reba (Netflix)
  • The Golden Bachelorette (Hulu)
  • Only Murders in the Building (Hulu)

What have you watched lately that you've loved? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog today, friends. Love to all!

  2. Isn't The Golden Bach sweet? I really like Joan. Gilmore Girls is my show when I wake up and can't sleep. So comforting.

    1. Yes! I love her, and I've loved how nice the men are to one another. It was the same with The Golden Bachelor! I totally get that one and have done the same with GG many a time!

  3. I want to start Gilmore Girls from the beginning, but I feel like I have too many Chrismtas movies right now to watch much regular tv. Maybe I will start in January since it seems I always need a new show then.

    1. Maybe wait until January! It'll be a good time to start a new show with the long winter nights. I love this show so much!

  4. Gilmore Girls is my go-to show. I've watched the entire series no less than 10 times. Have you watched Nobody Wants This on Netflix? It was super cute!

    1. Mine too! I love to have it on in the background. I loved Nobody Wants This! Did you recognize Dave from GG as the priest??

    2. I kept calling him Dave Rygalski! I'm so excited that there's going to be a second season. I also adore Kristen Bell

  5. I'm going to save this list because I never know what's truly good on Hallmark....and have sat through some stinkers. It's good to get a recommendation. I'm watching The Golden Bachelorette and enjoying it but want to get back to Only Murders. I just finished Hacks on Max.

    1. I know, right? It can be overwhelming since there are so many. I haven't heard of Hacks, but I don't have that streaming channel.

  6. I have a yearly subscription to Peacock which also has all the Hallmark movies and channel. I will have to search for that October Kiss movie. I too LOVE the Golden Bachelorette. I'm worried the low ratings though won't produce anymore shows. I'm also watching Only Murders but I'm not enjoying the latest season as much as I have previous seasons although Melissa McCarthy is a hoot on it! I love all the CBS shows like NCIS, Elsbeth, and Matlock. You would love Elsbeth and Matlock! I don't get cable, I watch them through the Paramount app. Visiting from Talking About it Tuesdays.

    1. I love the Golden Bachelorette, too, and PC even watches with me. It is so much kinder and so much less drama than regular Bachelor. I appreciate how many of the men really loved being married and apparently really loved their wives.

    2. Amy, I love that show, and I'm sad to hear it's not doing well. I guess it doesn't surprise me, since it's low drama, and they need that to sustain a show these days. I haven't gotten to the point when Melissa McCarthy joined the cast! I love her and can't wait for that. I need to check out the CBS shows, but I don't know if I have the channel you need to stream them. Thanks for stopping by!

    3. Leslie, that's what I loved about the show as well! I love how kind they are to each other, which is probably why it's not doing well with ratings. They need the drama!

  7. I love all the Christmas movies but I've said I am waiting until November to start watching them.
I've just started watching the Gilmore Girls, it's such a nice show! I'm half way through the first season.

  8. We've been watching High Potential and it's cute. A little bit of crime solving, a little humor, doesn't strain the brain.

  9. We kept putting off watching Grey's because of how many seasons there are - it was overwhelming. Then our teenage granddaughter spent a weekend and we watched most of the first two episodes - we were hooked. Vowed to stop when we'd watched up to the current season but noooooooooo, we're watching it every week! Thanks for the recs on Hallmark movies - some I've enjoyed and some have nearly put me in a sugar coma. Maybe I just need to watch them in small doses? I do love the two leads in October Kiss so it's on my list now.

    1. There are SO MANY seasons! Shonda needs to consider giving up on these characters, but I also get why it keeps going each year. That's all it took for me to get hooked, and even though I promised to quit as well, I kept going. And here I am today. Maybe watch one of the ones I recommended first and go with small doses like you said. It's all I can watch right now!

  10. Right?! I'm shocked it's still going, because most of the original cast is gone. I love Only Murders, and can't wait to see Melissa McCarthy join the cast!
