The Cozy Chronicles: transitioning your home & your heart to fall

Happy Saturday, friends, and welcome to the first edition of my new link party, The Cozy Chronicles. As a reminder, here are the dates for the remainder of 2024: September 14th, October 12th, November 9th, and December 14th. Today's edition is about Transitioning from the Summer Season to Fall. You can just use my graphic at the top of this post for your post, or you can make one of your own. In October we'll be talking about Halloween or fall traditions from the past or present.

There are few things I love more than transitioning my home from the summer season to fall. Here are some things that I love using/doing that just make it feel cozy, warm, and inviting inside my home. In my humble opinion, there is no season that is more welcoming than fall! I love this season for a million different reasons, but one is because it's such a welcome reprieve after a long and hot summer. I get all excited when the mornings first turn cool, and I mean I get as excited as Lorelai does when the first snow happens each year on Gilmore Girls. If only I lived in Connecticut!

I love little touches of fall throughout my home; many things I've had for years, but others are things I've picked up in the last year or two, like this little bundle of flowers. Anyone who knows me here knows that as much as I love real flowers, I kill them, so I am a huge fan of the faux kind!

I love to keep pillows and throws out; the throw that I had on this chair here was being washed.

I use all the surfaces in my home when I decorate! Are you like this?

I think we all do this, honestly, but I love to light candles when I'm at home. I lit this one yesterday morning when I was piddling around in the kitchen.

I pull out our dog blankets for the furniture when it gets cool outside, and trust me, they love the cozy blankets as much as I do. How precious is Chloe in this picture? The blanket had fallen off the couch, and before I could put it  back, she curled up and did this.

These are a couple of my favorite playlists on Spotify for fall. I love having music playing in the background when I'm at home.

I use a similar image for my phone lock screen and wallpaper from now until Thanksgiving, then I switch over to a Christmas image.

If music isn't playing, I like to use a screensaver from YouTube, like this one. Here are a few of my favorite channels that you can click on to subscribe to:

Calmed by Nature

Coffee Shop Ambience

Candy Music Room

The Alley of Ambience

I think doing any of these things is a great way to add some seasonal coziness to our homes. I can't wait to read your posts! I'm so glad you're here to link up today! I hope people remembered since I failed to mention it yesterday in my Friday Favorites post. I'll keep the link open for a week or so if you want to join in later. Thanks for reading my blog today! Love to all.

  1. I never think of putting a screensaver/scene on the TV but that is a fun way to add to more seasonal cozy vibes for sure.

  2. Using every surface resonated with me as I also use door handles on which to hang some of my decor! Enjoyed reading this and may try to link up. I don´t do nearly as much as you do (eg I don´t burn candles) and perhaps my home isn´t as cozy as many but I´m sure that coziness is on a continuum!

    1. I thought so too! I love seeing a dog curled up like that. Thanks, friend! Your home looks beautiful, too! I loved all that fall things you put out yesterday.

  6. I love the picture of Chloe. I love pillows in our chairs, but evidently Lucy doesn't, because she's always throwing them off on the floor. So it's a constant battle in our house. I put them on the chairs, she throws them to the floor and it's on repeat all day when I'm home. lol I don't really mind though cause I know she is a rotten little stinker and I love her just that way. lol Everyone in our house love blankets though!! It's fake flowers and plants for me too. I enjoyed this post and may link-up at some point, if and when I get things decorated. lol As always, your home is beautiful!

    1. Thank you! Your Lucy tale made me laugh. Dogs are so funny with their distinct personalities. I love that about them!

    2. Okay, you've inspired me. I've turned on a fall landscape with soft jazz playing and I've put away some of the summer stuff and have pulled out the fall stuff, to put up later today. We'll see how all that goes. Have a great day Jennifer.

  7. Your post sums up the essence of autumn and that change can be beautiful (change is NOT my superpower lol). And honestly I am always here to see pictures of your sweet pups! We had a faux fall but highs are back to the upper 90s in central Texas; the plus side is that it is still pool time.

    1. You are right about autumn being a season of change! I love the thought of that. Oh, the pups! They're always fun to talk about, even if they all drive me a little bonkers. I'm afraid we've also been having a faux fall here as well. It's getting hot all over again!

  8. I had never thought of using a screen saver on my TV either!! But I love the one you shared in your photo.
I am so frustrated that I can't get to my fall decorations with this bum foot. And my husband really isn't crazy about all the decorations I put out so isn't volunteering YET to fetch my bins from the garage.
Used to buy candles and not light them. DUMB. But now I realize there's no time like the present. Playing music, burning a candle, snuggling up with the pups under a throw all sound pretty cozy to me.

    1. I think it's a brilliant idea, and I got it from someone else. I would love to have one of those art frame TVs someday, but this is a great way to get that same effect. I'm so sorry to hear about your foot! I hope your hubby will help you out with that soon. Those are all the quintessential autumn things that are so appealing to me!

  10. We have been getting ready for the change in seasons. I love getting the blankets out, burning candles and just getting cosy!
Yes! I have all my surfaces filled with various decorations. My family hate it. hehehe
