dressing for spring

Happy Sunday, friends! I thought I'd write a quick post and link it up with Mireille today over on her blog, a post that she calls Sunday Showcase. I'm also linking up with Jill and Kellyann for their Fashion Files on Thursday.

We have several times like this a year, but it's officially the season of "where a sweater in the morning, regret it in the afternoon" weather here near Memphis. It almost always starts off cold right now, but our afternoons have been warming up to around seventy or so. Needless to say, I dress more for the afternoons than the mornings, and I've already worn sandals several times now. Here's an outfit that I wore to work last week.

I love everything about this new top that I bought a couple of weeks ago! I like the neutral colors, the flimsy fabric, and the sleeves with elastic that I like to wear pushed up to my elbows.

I also wore this shirt to church yesterday with black pants and sandals.

Here's another outfit that I love to wear! I love this white top with bat wing sleeves that are 3/4 length. This is cute with jeans, but I like it even more with black pants. If I hadn't been working on this day, I would have worn this top with a long necklace. My friend who's a stylist says that solid color shirts are the perfect canvas for jewelry. I would have either worn a long wooden bead necklace with a glass drop at the end, or at the very least I'd have worn it with a necklace that's slightly shorter that gives the appearance of a V. That same friend says that V-neck shirts are universally flattering on everyone, and I've seen the difference one makes; another way to create that look is with a necklace, so I do that a lot, since I don't have V-neck shirts.

I am loving this bright striped shirt! I wore this Saturday with jeans and sandals, and my sister Trish kept complimenting the shirt. I felt like that was a win, since she has a really good eye for fashion.

Lastly, another favorite look is a poncho style shirt with jeans or pants. I have a few of these, and I think I will always love them. I love how comfortable they are, and how versatile they can be depending on the pants and shoes you wear. I wore one such outfit to a funeral last week: a charcoal colored poncho style sweater with a cowl neck, black pants, and leopard print loafers.

What's your go-to outfit? I know most of you have one! Thanks for reading my blog, friends. Love to all!

  5. Thank you for linking up! I am loving all of these tops! I just switched out my closet (only things not out are my really summery things) and am excited for spring. I managed to take a large bag to the local charity shop too which was nice.

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday, friends! I feel like shouting from the rooftop that Christmas is over, I survived (thrived at times, cried at others), and...
