Friday Favorites, 1.5.2024.

Happy Friday, friends! I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika for today's favorite blog post of the week. I hope you had a happy new year and fun celebrating the fresh start that it brings. You all know fresh starts and clean slates are my favorite!

The verses above are why; they remind me of the mercies of God that are new every morning!

Here are some other favorites from this week:

Changing the screensaver wallpaper and lock screen on my phone with the seasons is my favorite! The picture above is what I'm currently using. Just a reminder that I get these from Pinterest! I type in what I'm looking for (so, "winter screensaver" was what I plugged in), I take a screenshot of the image, I crop out the edges, then I apply it to my phone. Easy peasy!

Seasonal things are always my favorite, and I loved this pizza box that our takeout arrived in on Saturday night. Isn't it cute? I ordered pizza from my favorite place, Lost Pizza, for Noah and me to eat that night for dinner. Graham, Jonah, and Todd all had previous plans. Our favorite orders are a Hot Chick for them (pizza with buffalo chicken) and extra plain cheese for me. Both are delicious!

This gratitude journal is my favorite! My best friend Missy brought me this at church a few weeks ago. She and I are both in the weekly habit of listing the things we're grateful for, thanks to the encouragement from my Pastor.

This is one of my favorite Hallmark movies! I watched this for the third year running on New Year's day when I woke up. It's so good!

Cozy fires are our favorite! We've had one going in the fireplace every night this week, and it's been amazing!

This night of dinner was my favorite. I found a good recipe for White Chicken Chili, and I made cornbread to go with it. The guys in our house loved it as well! I loosely followed the recipe that I linked; the changes I made were based on what I had or didn't have in the pantry. I used leftover chicken that I made a few nights prior, that had been cooked with ranch dressing seasoning and cream cheese. I used cream cheese instead of what was mentioned, and I had pinto beans in the pantry instead of the cannelloni beans that were mentioned.

The football game to see who would play in the championship game this comin Monday night was not our favorite. Alabama played terribly, once again this year, and the win evaded them.

This snack is my new favorite thing to have at lunch! It's very high in protein: 1/2 cup of cottage cheese with these protein chips contain 31 grams of protein. In case you didn't know, when you eat the right amount of protein at a meal, you're completely full and satisfied until the next mealtime. I shared this in a video on TikTok this week, one that I titled, "Things TikTok made me buy part 1".

Have you ever used beeswax food wrap? Drew's girlfriend Caitlyn bought some for me as part of my Christmas gift, and I am a fan! Here's the brand she picked for me on Amazon. I love it so much more than Saran wrap! This is reusable and as stretchy as it needs to be. It comes in all different sizes! This was parmesan that we wrapped back up after Jonah used it one night.

Going back to work this week was my favorite! And so are these new (smaller sized) jeans that Mom bought me as part of my birthday gift.

The sunshine pouring through the window yesterday was my favorite! It felt so good seeing it at my kitchen table as I waited there before leaving for work.

It's no secret that reusable shopping bags are my favorite, and these are not the exception! I put these out in the bookstore while I was there yesterday.

Did you catch my other blog posts from the week? There were so many! I'll link them all below.

  1. Yah for smaller sized jeans! That pizza box is cute- I like it when businesses take the time (and money!) to procure seasonal packaging. The beeswax coverings are so nice. The ones I bought were made locally by a woman- that got me into looking into making them. I found tutorials online and even bought some beeswax. I hope you have a great weekend!

  2. I agree with Maria - that pizza box is so cute and I really appreciate those things!
Tell me more about the jeans? I need to look at Dillard's Westbound again and I decided I am going to wear jeans a bunch in January for accountability. Jeans January! Ha!

  4. Thanks, Maria! I also love it when businesses do something extra like that during the holiday season. I want to look into something similar for this year in the bookstore. I did a smaller scale thing and bought a really cute Christmas stamp for our coffee sleeves in December. They got a lot of compliments!

I had no idea you could make your own! That's so cool. I love them!

  5. I love it too, Amy! I'll look at the tag and send you the info in a text today. I love them; they came from Marshall's, so they were also super inexpensive. I think your idea is brilliant, because nothing says extra or less weight than a pair of jeans! These are also stretchy, so while it may not be a true, true size change, this time last year I wouldn't have fit into them. I'll take that!

  9. Great favorites! I haven't watched that Hallmark movie - did you see My Norwegian Holiday? That was our favorite from Countdown to Christmas. Love that pizza box! If that came to our house, I would for sure cut out the design and put it in my December Daily album! I'm not linking up but I do have a short favorites post up.

  10. That pizza box is adorable; sometimes it's the little things isn't it? I am going to have to remember that snack/lunch idea for when I get back from my cruise. I am going to be looking for ALL the healthy meal ideas I can find!

  14. So many fun favorites! I saw your comment on Pamela's blog about finding All Creatures on You Tube TV. Yes, you can probably find it there. I search for the show title and then add to "library" so it is waiting for me when I want to watch. Hope this works for you!

  19. Joanne, YES! I feel the same way about the little things in life. Such a small detail brings so much joy! I will probably mention the snack idea again, because I seriously love it so much! I had it for "lunch" today after church.
