Wednesday Wonder

Happy Wednesday, friends! I thought I'd talk about the sentiments of Christmas today. Each year, there are things that we do or participate in that bring about the joyful festive spirit. I hope you enjoy reading about some of what we do and that you think about some of your own things.

Every year at Christmastime, I really enjoy all of the festive things that we have going on at our church. This is one of the things that puts me into the holiday spirit each year! I love it when I see the church decorated for the first time, I love it when we start singing carols mixed in with our regular Sunday worship, and I love attending the holiday musical events. All of these things put a smile on my face and bring me great joy, and all the more when I know that my family is there with me. This year my boys weren't there, but my niece came to our Christmas choir and orchestra production and sat beside me. She's the niece that's the mom to all the twin girls; she was here alone for a few days and I loved getting to see her. I get really emotional over things like this, and I can't really explain what happened in my heart as we sat together.

It's kind of a terrible picture, but the sentiment is there. I also really love sitting with my mom and stepdad in church. I love attending the Christmas eve service together and having us all sit together, too.

I love the sense of festivity in the air at this time of year, don't you? I don't necessarily mean the madness you see in Christmas shopping, but just the general sense of cheer and laughter. I experienced this very thing two days like this last week in the bookstore. We had lots going on in the church on Wednesday and Thursday, and so many people were coming into the bookstore for coffee and to browse the cute treasures we have right now. I loved having several groups of people in there with me during those two days. It felt fun and happy and Christmas-y.

All of these things are Christmas to me and put me into a very festive spirit! I love that Jesus is the center of it all. What do you experience that puts you into a festive Christmas mood? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog, friends. Love to all!
