Happy Independence day, friends! I am so thankful for the freedom that we have in our country. I know we're not in the best of shape right now, but we are never without hope. I thought I'd share a passage of Scripture that I pray over America, because we so desperately need to humble ourselves before God Almighty.
And my people, who bear my name, humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
(2 Chronicles 7:14)
He hears our prayers, and He knows the hearts of those who love Him.
I love what Billy Graham said about freedom:
We cherish our freedom because of the tremendous cost by which it was attained.
Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodsteam. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same. —Ronald Reagan

ReplyDeleteGreat quotes and scriptures, Jennifer. Regarding the one by RR, I had only heard the first sentence, not the others ones. They are all so good and true. I saw a poll today about how people feel about being American. So few (especially from one political ideology) said they were proud. From those of my political ideology, many more said they were proud but not nearly everyone said they were. That is so sad to me. I think it's the deliberate work of those who do not love democracy to interject animosity towards our country. But people like you and many others give me hope ;). Happy 4th!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maria! That is so sad about people not being patriotic. I consider myself a very patriotic person, despite our many flaws. We still live in the greatest country ever, and I thank God for our freedoms everyday. I hope you enjoyed the holiday!
