Happy Monday, friends! I'm linking up with Holly and Sarah for today's blog post. It's been over a month since I've linked up with these ladies, so I'm glad to be here today. It means I actually had a weekend that had something going on! 🤣
I'm including some Friday pictures, because my day was so strange that day. We ended up having almost four hours of a break in our day, so I had time to get some things done, but I also made time to sit and look through our school's year book. I always loved a year book when our sons were little! The students are so excited for this day, because it signifies the end of the school year. Isn't ours cute?
I included the picture I made it into. Our day started off differently, because each year our schools in the town host a Dragon Day, in which all the special education kiddos participate in field day type events. This is held at the high school, and tons of teachers, assistants, and high school students participate in this amazing day. There was a Dragon Day parade that took place that morning to send them off and cheer them on. It brought tears to my eyes! I anticipate being moved emotionally over the next two and a half weeks, because so much is going on that is so very sweet. With our very long break, I spent some time organizing this bookshelf, and getting ready to file papers that I've collected since starting in January. We also organized a file drawer that was so messy, and it looked so much better by the end of the day.
Look at our sweet principal with our friend from CWES!
She does not love being in the limelight, and she made it onto our district's social media page. I texted this to her when I saw it, because she's not on Instagram. After I got home from my day, my dad came over, and he and I went to eat Mexican food with half the town of Collierville. It was good, but we had to wait forever to get what we ordered! It was good to see Dad—it'd been almost three weeks since we'd last seen each other! We came back to my house for a bit after dinner, then I took him home around 7:30. I stayed and chatted with both him and my stepmom until almost nine! It was good to catch up with them.
I slept in a bit on Saturday morning, and watched Virgin River while I had coffee. I had a really good quiet time, then did laundry and some things around the house. I piddled around here until the afternoon, when I left to meet my sister Trish for a movie I've been dying to see.
This was so good! Did you read this book as a young girl? I did, and though I'd forgotten a lot of it, it quickly started coming back to me. It was so cute! I spent half the time laughing, because we were sitting next to some young girls who kept giggling throughout. There were several women there with friend groups who were my age, which I thought was funny. Have you seen this, or will you watch it when it comes out on a streaming channel?
I always love getting popcorn while I'm at a movie. I don't see movies in the theater all that much, so when I do go, I like to enjoy it and live it up a little. 😉
The month of May in Memphis is a big deal, and the start of what is called Memphis in May. The first event in the lineup is Music Fest, which takes place in a huge park along the Mississippi River in the downtown area. Tons of different artists and bands come to perform on the different stages in the park for this weekend each year, and though it's been great in the past, it was a little disappointing this year. This month is huge for the revenue in our city, so we're glad to have something positive like this going on each year, even if the numbers weren't what they expected. Todd and Graham worked this all weekend, and this was the vehicle Todd brought home each night.
Check me out, looking all official up in the tech booth at church on Sunday! This makes me laugh, because I had no idea what I was doing. The tech director had to come and unmute my radio. 🤣I took this to send to my hubby, who was already downtown for the Music Fest.
I came home to eat lunch and get comfy (cool, because I was sweating in church today), then I took a nap before going grocery shopping. I came home to put all the groceries away, fed the dogs, and made my own dinner while I watched this movie on Prime tv. Have you watched this? It was cute! I love Sally Fields.
I watched that and rewatched another favorite movie while I worked on blog stuff for the week and laughed over these Snapchats I got from my son Jonah.
After church, a group of them went out to lunch, then went to their friend's house to swim for the afternoon. They were going to go out to eat for dinner, but decided to stay in and cook themselves. He said what they made was so good—grilled chicken pasta of some sort.
What about you? How was your weekend? I'd love to hear from you! I have twelve and a half days left of school, but who's counting? Thanks for reading my blog, friends! Love to all.
What a nice weekend! I'm glad you got to see your dad and then chat with your step mom, too. And, I would love to see that movie, but it will probably just be at home. I don't remember many details from the book, but I remember it was really important to all the girls in our generation.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember my school day countdown, but there are two days until my big exam and then I can breathe one sigh of relief. After the exam, they make a scrapbook of their four years of high school in Spanish and we have one circle conversation and they are basically done. I still have my Spanish 3 and Spanish 1 classes to focus on, though.
Have a great week!
I am with you on the popcorn/ theater. I don't watch movies at the theater often. When I do, I'm going to have popcorn! My husband went out with friends to the movie theater recently and brought me back popcorn from the theater. It was HEAVEN in a box (and I didn't have to go to the theater!). I probably won't see the JB movie and I won't see the one with Jane Fonda in it. That's cool that your son made a great looking meal. One of the best things about SM is that, at least for my kids, they find recipes whether it be via Pinterest or TikTok that they want to try and do try.
ReplyDeleteAmy, you're so close! It sounds like some fun stuff that you have coming up, with the exception of the exams. I'd love to hear more about their scrapbooks- how cool that they do that! I hope your week gets off to a great start!
ReplyDeleteMaria, that was sweet of him to bring home popcorn for you! I don't know what it is about movie theater popcorn, but man it's good. I'm not a huge fan of Jane Fonda either, but I did like the other actresses, especially Sally Fields. She's still such a great actress! My sons are the same way with videos they watch on Tik Tok. I think that's a great thing about social media.
ReplyDeleteYes! "Are You There God, It's Me Margaret" was amazing! My fave book growing up and Diana loved it too. We were BIG fans of the movie!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer. It sounds like to had a really good weekend and so did I. I've not read that book nor seen the movie. But I do think it's one I would enjoy watching. Now as for the other movie, I watched it a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it for the most part. I hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI loved that book growing up and will definitely watch when it comes to tv/streaming. Enjoy the last few weeks of school.
ReplyDeleteI watched 80 for Brady this weekend too and thought it was so cute! I remember (vaguely) reading Are You There God...? When I was a teenager; I read every Judy Blume book I could get my hands on. She was my favorite author. I plan to watch the movie but probably not until it's streaming somewhere as I only ever go to the movies with my husband (I like movies but am not a big fan of going to the cinema).
ReplyDeleteHolly, I love that you took your girl to see it! I saw several moms with daughters and friends there.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy! I thought about you when I watched it and wondered if you'd seen it. It was so cute!
ReplyDeleteTanya, me too! And thank you! The countdown clock is winding down...we're almost down to the single digits!
ReplyDeleteJoanne, I am kind of the same way about going to the movies. I honestly prefer to just watch them from the comfort of our home, but occasionally, there's a girly one I want to see with my sister and mom or a friend or two. I am like you and read every Judy Blume book I could get my hands on! She was definitely one of my stand-out authors as a young girl. You will love the movie! They did a great job with it as a movie.
