Happy Wednesday, friends! You have to love a short week, right? I remember when I worked at my kids' school, how I thought that I could do without them, because it always seemed like the kids were CRAZY on those weeks. I don't know why it was like that, but they were also that way every time there was a full moon. I'm not a superstitious person, but there has to be some science there in order for that to have happened. So, if you're a teacher reading this, I hope your week is nice and normal this week.
I'm jumping in with what I'm currently loving, beginning, ending, picking and posting.
Loving:
I am currently loving the whole blogging world and community. I feel like for so many years this was a huge thing, then it wasn't and now it is once again. It's interesting considering that with how things ebb and flow, but blogging seems to be sticking around. I have heard several people say that with Instagram, blogging has died down, but I don't find that to be true at all. I really enjoy my morning routine when I am up in the five o'clock hour and sit down to drink my first cup of coffee and read other people's blogs. I have my favorites that are bookmarked on my computer that I've mentioned here before, so it's easy for me to get to them now that I no longer have a blog role on the sidebar here. There are some blogs that I love to read, but don't feel like I "know" the one writing. Others I read feel more like friends in real life. Do you feel this way? What about the commenting? I really love comments on my blog, so I try to leave them on other blogs. I also feel like it's important for me to respond to every comment, even if it never gets read.
There's nothing like that first cup of coffee or tea every morning, am I right? The pups crack me up during this time of morning, too. They're such creatures of habit and after going outside first thing when we all come downstairs, they jump into their favorite spots on the couch or on their beds and promptly fall back to sleep until 7:15, when they start "talking" to me to tell me they're hungry.
I am also loving my fall decorations that I have already put out in our home. I'll show you a sneak peak.
I really like using my tv background as art. For this screensaver, I am using a free one that is spooky or Halloween themed. Most of the images are of old abandoned homes, which I think is perfect for this time of year.
Beginning:
I talked with my sister Lisa on Monday, because we're both beginning to get really excited about our upcoming trip. It's crazy to think we'll be leaving in two weeks from this Saturday. Yikes! In a good way, of course. We're both beginning to think about what we want to take with us, because we both plan on taking carry on luggage on our flights. She coordinated our flights for us, because she's flying from Denver and I'm flying from Memphis, so we'll meet up in Boston right around the same time. I'm praying that the Lord works all of this out for us. We were talking outfits and shoes on Monday, which is what prompted me to order some new shoes from Amazon in a brand that I know I love. We feel like the weather will be cooler there, but not so cool that we have to dress too differently than we do in our current cities.
I can't wait to see more of homes and buildings that look like this!
Ending:
I feel like this weekend was the perfect ending to a wonderful summer. I enjoyed every second of the summer season this year, thanks to an attitude adjustment that I forced myself to go through. I say that because it's not my favorite season, especially because I am always hot. But, I just reminded myself that I'm hot all the time anyway, and if I just expect it and dress for it, it's not so bad. It worked! I really loved all the summer months this year.
How could I not have enjoyed it with memories and days like these pictures above? I will carry those memories with me all year long.
Picking:
I'm picking very September-ish things like darker colors for my nails, cozy jazz music on Spotify, candles that smell like something delicious baking, clothes that are more neutral in color and foods that are a little heartier. I'll give you some examples below.
I've already made taco soup and it was delicious. Tonight I'm making a roast with au jus gravy, peppers and roasted potatoes.
Posting:
All the fall things on Pinterest! Every year at this time of year, I begin doing that for fun instead of social media. It's fun to dream of places to visit, things to do, ways to change up your home in a way that's affordable and practical and finding new recipes.
I have some fun things there! You can click here to see my Fall board there and follow me.
It's your turn! I'd love to hear what you're currently loving, beginning, ending, picking and posting! Even better, share your post and link it here below. Thanks for reading my blog, friends! Love to all.
P.S. Next month we will share what we're currently anticipating, admiring, spending/consuming, wanting and purging/deleting. I hope you'll make plans to join me!
I agree about blogging! I feel sometimes that I get more support from my blogging friends than my IRL friends. I hope it doesn't go away. I guess I do my blog reading instead of the depressing newspaper now!
ReplyDeleteI love that nail color!
Yes to carry on only. You can wear the same bottoms and just rotate tops and roll everything. I don't have packing cubes but people swear by them. Where I have trouble is shoes and toiletries but I want to be a light packer so badly. Just remember that you can always buy something if you really need it when you get there. We aren't traveling to remote deserts! Ha!
Thank you for the link up, friend!
I didn't know you'd picked up the Currently post. I've linked up (with my own words...but will join in next month) I love reading other's blogs...your mantle is amazing! I love the darker nail color. I'm trying to get through fall break, and then I plan on transitioning to my usual darker nail color. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteSoooo happy you took this link up on and will be hosting- yeah! LOVE that nail color and love your "Falleluleah Board on Pinterest" so cute- you are getting me so excited for this beautiful season :)
ReplyDeleteAmy- I hope this community never goes away too! I wonder if the crappy year of 2020 had anything to do with how the blogging world took off again? I have often thought that maybe that is the case. I used to watch all the news shows in the morning too, but not anymore. I can't handle it! People and the world just seem extra mean now, but here in blog land, everyone is SO NICE. I love that. I have to say I'm also grateful for my friends IRL as well- but most of them are the friends I've made over the years at church.
ReplyDeleteI too REALLY want to be a light packer! I'm buying my main hair product when I get there- it's mousse and I buy it at CVS or Walgreens. We'll be stopping to pick up some snacks for our hotel anyway, so that's kind of what I had planned. I like to use hotel toiletries too, because they're usually really good. Same for body lotion. I don't have any packing cubes either, but I was contemplating asking someone if they had some I could borrow. I feel like I only need one. I hate to buy it if I don't need it, but I'm going on another longer trip in October, so I could still just buy some and use them then as well.
Thanks for linking up with me today!
Jen- I'm so glad you linked up anyway! Thanks for that about my mantle! I love it...mostly because of the white paint and all the contrasting colors. I really love to decorate too...and have so much fun switching things out for the seasons. I love reading other people's blogs too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Holly and thanks for linking up! I know it's hard to tell how much I love this time of year. 🤣 It's my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI have been tempted to try that cookie butter every time that I'm in TJ's but have not done so. I'm almost positive it's good... I like to read blogs as well and am glad that I started commenting on a few of them regularly. I used to read and never comment but now that I do, I feel more of a sense of community. I'm glad that blogging has not died down. I think most people have an innate curiosity about others and reading blogs provides insight into others' lives that is just... interesting to read and learn about. Have a great day, friend!
ReplyDeleteMaria, it is SO GOOD. I no longer buy it these days, though. It is way too decadent! I do think the commenting is what made it feel different and I was the same as you- I read a lot but rarely commented. Now that I have comments and comment a lot more, it makes me want to keep doing that even more. It is interesting to read these types of things about people...and in a way it reminds me of being pen pals with someone. Remember doing that when we were young and in school? How fun! I hope your day is great!
ReplyDeleteThanks for providing a link up for us currently fans! I always want Taco soup in the fall!
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to continue on in Anne's tradition! I'm glad you're joining us this month! Is that not the best? It's one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful for this blog community as well! I'm excited for your upcoming trip. I feel like the weather and fall colors will be great. Yay for all the fall things too!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree about the blogging community. I have been blogging for a long time, and it seems like the blog world is getting back to what it was in the beginning - chatting about our homes, vacations and family life. For awhile, it seemed like blogs had become just a big fashion/sales place, and now it seems like Instagram is like that. So people like you and me will just keep truckin' along with our family stories and life lately posts. ;) Thanks for hosting Currently!
ReplyDeleteI try to leave some sort of comment on every blog and blog post I read; something positive or a genuine question if I don't understand something. I too tend to answer all my comments even if they never see it!
ReplyDeleteI think you and your sister are going to have a wonderful time on your trip!
I already wrote down next month's prompts onto my blogger outline and will definitely be joining in!
Thanks, Marilyn! I am excited to see different fall foliage.
ReplyDeleteTanya. I agree! I love that it's gone old school again. Amen to that! I've gotten to where if one blog I like is 'selling' something, I automatically skip it. Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteThat's sweet, Joanne. I always notice and try to do the same, though I do sometimes forget. Thank you and I'll look forward to you joining us! I'll try to keep reminding people!
ReplyDeleteYour summer photographs are very pretty. I hope you'll have a good trip with your sister. I've never been to Boston so I hope you'll share some photos with us.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cathy! Oh, you know I will share some photos! It's going to be a jam packed trip, but I am so excited. I hope you're having a good week, my friend!
ReplyDeleteI’ve been blogging for a year and a half now and I am just starting to get to know this lovely community of encouraging and supportive bloggers. I’m so glad that I stumbled across your blog and I look forward to linking up with next month’s edition of currently. What a great idea to use your TV as part of your decor! It’s so funny, we are heading into Spring here and I am so excited about the warmer weather. But I feel like I get more excited looking at everyone’s fall or Autumn (as we call it) decorations at the moment. Than I do when it’s our turn for Autumn.
ReplyDeleteRuth, that is awesome! I love it here and I know you will too. I am so glad you'll be joining us for the next month's currently post! I totally get that... being more excited looking at people's decor over the weather that you may not enjoy. I am guessing you live in Australia? I'm going to check out your blog now! Thanks so much for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI do love blogs, and I'm glad that people are still blogging. Love your nails! I could really use a nice Fall color.
ReplyDeleteLauren @ www.shootingstarsmag.net
Lauren, ME TOO! Thank you for that! Maybe it inspired you to do some searching for one on Pinterest. That's where I get all my ideas.
ReplyDeleteI am a former Currently participant and like everyone else, I am thrilled you have adopted this series. Yay you!! Will be joining you for November...if it's not too late.
ReplyDeleteLove all the pretty pins. I am still a huge fan of Pinterest. It is a favorite way to relax.
