weekending

Happy Monday, friends! How was your weekend? Ours was good, just very busy. My dad came over on Friday and I made us a yummy lunch of black beans and rice. I had to be at church at six for a dress rehearsal of our Christmas program that we did last night.

It was SO WARM here Friday, in the eighties almost. We were supposed to have some pretty bad weather, and though it missed us where we live, there were tornadoes in Jonesboro, Arkansas, which is pretty close by and lives were lost. There were lives lost in Kentucky too. Some friends of ours have a camper at a lake about an hour and a half away from here, and most of the sites there at the campground (and the campers) are totaled. I'm always grateful to escape storms like that, but my heart aches for those who lost their homes and loved ones. My husband actually stayed up until around four a.m. to keep watch for us, because the rest of us were asleep. I was sleeping through tornado sirens, which is shocking to me.

I went out with my mom and sister on Saturday. Trish had one thing she wanted to do, then we just browsed through some places. I always love our days out! For dinner that night, I met my friend Andrea. We ate dinner and walked around Target for an hour and a half. We always have so much fun together, and look what she got me for my (upcoming) birthday!

It's a nativity scene and it says, "True story" underneath.

I was at church bright and early Sunday morning, then home for lunch and back later at five for call time and a microphone check, then our program started at six. It was SO GOOD! It was fun getting to do this again—it's been years since we had an all out production like this. I love my choir family!

How was your weekend? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog, friends. Love to all!

  2. I remember the days of Christmas programs. My husband used to be a minister of music and we had so much fun with all of that, even though they are a lot of work too. I sometimes miss being a part of that. Our church isn't big enough to have a choir. But that's okay as I love our church and am very happy there.

Blessing to you and yours today.

  5. Cathy- you get it, don't you? It is a lot of work, but it's also SO MUCH FUN. I don't know how I'll feel about it in fifteen years, but for now I love being a part of something huge like this. It just adds to the festivity and fun of Christmas. I'm so glad you and your husband are so content at your church. That is important! I hope you have a great day!
