Friday Favorites, 10.8.21

Happy Friday, friends! I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika for this weekly blog post.

How has your week been? Mine has been really good, with little instances of being busy or doing something on a day when I normally don't, but I've not minded the break in my routine. I've tried something for the last week that is different about when I go to bed and it's my newest favorite thing. Instead of watching a show on my phone, I've been reading in bed. I switch over to the dark mode in the settings of my Kindle and I read for at least thirty minutes. I've also started using a sleep sound machine app, with it set to sound like the ocean. You can set the timer on the app, so I set it for four hours and like I said...it's my new favorite thing...and also, I've never felt so high maintenance in all of my life.

Another new favorite thing is the "calmed by nature" channel on YouTube. I pull up YouTube on my smart tv (either by clicking the icon or by searching) and then I search for "calmed by nature" and pick a video and music that I want to watch/have on as background noise. There are a million videos to choose from and the scenes that it puts onto your screen are beautiful and very relaxing. I love having soft jazz music playing throughout the day, if I'm not listening to something on Spotify. And bonus: the scenes are so pretty that it makes your tv look like art.

If I don't have this on, I have a fall screensaver on my tv that my husband set up for me. It's the same concept, with no music and makes the tv look like art on the wall. It's not necessary to buy a new expensive art frame tv...you can play around with what you have and make that happen yourself.

The image above that's on my tv screen is the fall screensaver my hubby found. Pretty things are my favorite. I love for everything to be nice and orderly and beautiful.

Moving on now...

October is my favorite! I still don't have a pumpkin or a mum.

Puppy cuddles are still my favorite. Wherever I am in the daytime when I'm at home and Graham is at work, this little one is nearby. She drives me crazy and makes me melt, all at the same time.

It was a favorite moment when I came home from choir practice on Sunday night and found all these guys here. I wasn't prepared for any of them, but we took all the leftovers we could find and turned them into a big snack for all of them. I'd gotten Taco Bell for Jonah, Noah and me, but we made it work and I shared my tacos.

A full table is my favorite thing.

My favorite guy and me celebrated 25 years of being married on Monday! Originally we had planned to take a trip, but with all that is going on right now, I'm not in the mood to go somewhere. We will do that eventually, though...but instead, we went to our favorite local restaurant, Jim's Place Grille. It's pricey and a splurge, but totally worth it for a big celebration.

This moment with Jonah on Tuesday was a favorite moment. We were talking and I snuck this picture. His hat isn't dirty, it's designed to look like that...but I think he's so handsome...and think ALL my guys are. ❤

How cute is this favorite fall coffee mug from HomeGoods??

My church family is my favorite. I saw this sign as I drove by yesterday and took a picture while I was at a stoplight.

Other moments include seeing Drew twice this week, getting an inch trimmed off of my wild hair that I'm letting grow, making plans with her friend and hair stylist to make my hair a little warmer for fall, seeing family and friends, having an afternoon cup of coffee several days, leading a class on Thursday at church that I normally don't, good quality time with Jesus spent in prayer, a great worship service, a fun Monday morning meeting with my writing team friends, and making plans to meet with friends next week. I've missed them! I'm also looking forward to Saturday, when I'll hopefully see and spend time with my mom and sister.

Your turn! What's been your favorite thing/moment this week? I'd love to hear from you! Thanks for reading my blog, friends. Love to all. ❤

  1. What a great post. Love the pic of all the guys around the table. What fun! Also love the pic of you and your hubby and the puppy...awww...is so adorable. I've got my mum, but have not gotten a pumpkin yet. Maybe this weekend. As I've said already, the evenings with my hubby watching TV are some of my favorite times!

Hope you have a great weekend, Jennifer!

  5. Thanks, Cathy! I finally got my fall porch decorated...I went with something other than a mum this year, so hopefully it won't die. Ha! My hubby and I finished our show...so now we need a new one! I hate that about binge watching shows...I always get sad to see them end. I hope you had a great weekend!

  6. Rebecca Jo- It's understandable! I know it's hard being back in the swing of being at work full time and away from home more. I totally understand not having the time...I have had times like that myself. Hey, even if you don't get it done for fall, there's always Christmas! You can just go all out then. ;) I hope you had a good weekend!

  8. Thanks, Bri~ I am so glad you've enjoyed studying Esther with them! Sweet Kay is one of my favorite people on earth. She is just precious! This is so random, but do you read Kelly Stamps' blog? She's a pretty popular North Arkansas blogger/social media influencer and her best friend Laurie is Kay's daughter in law! Small world. ;) I hope you had a wonderful weekend, my friend!

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday, friends! I feel like shouting from the rooftop that Christmas is over, I survived (thrived at times, cried at others), and...
