weekending/Hello Monday

Happy Monday! I'm linking up with Tanya from The Other Side of the Road for this blog post. It was such a beautiful weekend here in my area. Here's a little of what our weekend looked like.

My dad came over for lunch on Friday and I made taco soup for us. I had thought we may go to the park, but it was a little chilly for him, so we just stayed here and solved all the world's problems again. I took him home around three thirty and sat and visited with him and Sandy for a little while, then when I left there I went to my mom's house. I hadn't seen her all week and just wanted to go for a visit. We had the best dinner—lasagna, cheesy garlic bread and salad. I stayed out there until around seven thirty and then headed home because my head was starting to hurt again. As gorgeous as the weather was, all day Friday and Saturday, I had a sinus headache. The medicine would work, though, thankfully so I still enjoyed each day of the weekend.

I enjoyed my coffee all weekend in this cute new mug I bought Thursday night.

I have a thing I do every Saturday morning—I make my coffee while the dogs are outside, then I let them in and settle in for a movie. I don't know when I started this, but I've been doing this for a few years now. I don't always have the time to devote to a movie, but on Saturdays? Yes ma'am. I let myself just sit and relax for longer then than I do on any other day of the week.

I made a third cup of coffee (another Saturday only treat) and sat down at the kitchen table for my quiet time.

I also purchased this cute notebook when I went to HomeGoods the other night after my night out with my friend Andrea. I love a new notebook! I'm on a kick with larger sized books for journals right now. I was using a cute composition book from Target and went to get another one last weekend, but they didn't have the kind I like. This was only $8 from HomeGoods, and I think it's cute. I love when a new journal lines up with a new month. The first day I used it was Thursday, when I opened it up to write Scripture for the morning.

I wasn't going to go anywhere on Saturday, but my mom called and told me that Marshall's had put some new pants out, so I went to check them out. I'm glad she told me this, because I bought a pair of brown pants, then I bought a sweatshirt and some jogger pants to lounge around in. I needed some new things like this before I go to Colorado in a couple of weeks. I also made a quick run to Hobby Lobby and just enjoyed walking around the whole store.

I came home, made myself some lunch and then watched a really cute Hallmark movie—Harvest Wedding. I like the ones with Jill Wagner in them, and I also liked the guy who played her love interest. It was definitely one of the better ones. I'm still enjoying our monthly subscription to Frndly TV! I've watched so many Hallmark movies and I have several set to record in the coming days.

My husband and I celebrated our 24th anniversary on Sunday, but we went out for dinner on Saturday night. We went to one place, but because the wait was so long, we didn't want to wait. We went across the street to another place, that was so much better than our original place we had in mind! It was quite a bit more expensive, but the food and service was exceptional, and if there is one night to splurge on dinner, it should be your anniversary.

We had jumbo crab cakes for an appetizier, filets cooked medium rare with Italian spinach and a baked potato and I had a slice of key lime pie that was incredible. It was all so, so good. We brought home the leftovers and they were immediately eaten.

We don't really do gifts for anniversary, because if we both want something we just buy it—that being said, we've spent money on our house lately and we're about to buy a very nice treadmill.

I'm including this picture because I have this letter board in my kitchen. I had a message displayed on there that said, "You are my sunshine." for the summer months. I woke up a couple of months ago to this message on the board that he left back for me. 😍

We came home afterward and promptly changed into pajamas. Real life, right?

Sunday we were at church bright and early, then I had to make a grocery store run before Monday. It was a good weekend, how was yours? I'd love to hear from you!

Thanks for reading, love to all.

  2. Thanks, Marilyn! It was delicious, Jim's Place Grille out here in Collierville. You should definitely try it out for yourself..it's a little pricey, but it was fun for a special occasion.
