Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, friends! I'm linking up with Andrea from Momfessionals for this blog post.

It's been a good week—once again, it went by really fast. The days are far from normal, I know, but the more that times goes on and the less I watch the news, the more normal it seems. I'm not saying that to start a debate, it's just my personal opinion on my own little slice of the internet.

One of my favorite parts of the week was finishing my favorite series of books, The Sisterchicks series by Robin Jones Gunn. I have several books waiting on me that I'm very excited about, but this one below was the one I chose to read next.

Sophie Hudson is one of my favorite authors of all time. I've read her blog for almost fourteen years now, where I always knew her as Boo Mama. Big Mama was the other blog I loved to read, and that's one of my other favorite authors, Melanie Shankle. I've met both of these ladies and have had my picture taken with them. I'd show you, but I'm being lazy and I don't feel like going to search for them.

Two more of my favorite authors also have new books right now, and I have those as well.

Additionally, I have one more by Robin Jones Gunn waiting on me. Books are my favorite—I bet you didn't know that about me.

😉

Swimming is also my favorite and last Friday was my favorite day of the week.

I got to spend the day with my sister Trish and we had the best day together. Quality time is my top love language, so anytime I spend with loved ones like that recharges my battery, so to speak.

Speaking of quality time and people I love, I talked to my niece pictured above the whole way I drove to meet my sister. These are her twin daughters' she is pregnant with her second set of twins—also girls. Can you even imagine?!

Saturday was Big Daddy's favorite holiday and the six of us plus one extra went out to his and Mom's for a catfish fry that night and to make things go boom. {His words, not mine.} It was a really fun night and nobody got hurt, though Noah did come close thanks to his friend. 😂

Sunday was such a great sweet morning at church, and my Pastor is one of my very favorite human beings on the planet.

I was wanting to tell him something and walked up to this—he was praying with this family. Their littlest girl had given her heart to Jesus the week before and she was excited to tell Pastor Chuck, so he prayed Scripture over her life as we all walked by. Is that not the most precious thing you've ever seen? It's a great reminder for us all to pray for our pastors, they need them and have never faced such opposition before.

My lunches this week have been my favorite and look a lot like this. The dinners haven't been too shabby either. We've had salmon, burgers, Mexican food and more Mexican food.

Mexican food is my favorite.

My quiet times have been so sweet this week. The Lord has been so sweet to teach me things in His Word and my prayer time has been extra special as well. I've loved reading in the book of Psalms again and my favorite thing to do is to turn those into prayers over my family or other people I know and love.

I loved this sky from my mom's and Bill's the other night—skies exploding with color are my favorite.

Getting my nails done with dip powder is one of my favorite things and so is this color, Funny Bunny by OPI. I got them done last week after I swam.

This little bird was such a sweet spiritual picture the Lord gave to me last week. I wrote about it on Wednesday and it was one of my favorite posts that I wrote this week. I wrote about this bird, a hawk, and a raging spiritual battle that goes on all around us in the heavenly realm.

My other favorite blog post this week was on Thursday, when I wrote about our family mission trip to a Navajo reservation in Arizona four years ago. You can scroll down to the post below this one to read it for yourself, but I loved reliving that trip.

These chips have been my favorite part of lunch all week. They taste so good and salty, but they're not that bad for you. I got them from Costco on Monday.

I have a funny story about these sunglasses. A few years ago I thought I'd lost my Ray Bans, so I bought these to replace them. I did find them, rather Jonah found them for me, and I wore those Ray Bans again, but I've had them for about six years now. I was looking back at old pictures, and those glasses seemed a little unfashionable, so I was thinking about ordering some new ones from Amazon or shopping for some at Target. I got in my car to go to Costco Monday, and "out of the blue" remembered that I had these in my glove compartment! I say that facetiously—I don't believe in coincidence, but I do believe the Lord had me remember these!

So this is me in them on Monday when I put them on in my garage. Those God-moments are my favorite.

I'll wrap this post up with that, but I'd love to hear some God-moment stories you have.

Have a great weekend! Love to all.

  4. Looking forward to reading about your missions trip. Missions trips make my heart beat faster. I would go on one once a quarter - if the Lord would allow. And provide:) I love those sunglasses..super cute and your nails too. I don't think I've heard of dip polish. Does it last?? And I am so jealous of that pool. Truthfully. When I saw it on IG, I saved it and showed it to my husband with the request "please make our next backyard look like this!!"

  7. Jennifer~

Me too! I loved going on the two I've been on that were either out of the country or out of my city, but another favorite thing I did was with the youth at my church and my oldest sons~we participated in Street Reach every summer in our own city, within the poorest of areas. It was a tremendous blessing...I wrote about that last Thursday.

Thanks for the compliments~my nails are actually dipped with a powder that turns hard and is thick over my own thin and flimsy nails. I love it because it's helped make them be stronger. And that pool...oh, that pool! It belongs to a friend of mine. I'd love a pool! I'd settle for an above the ground at this point, it's so hot!

    Have a great weekend!
