simply Tuesday

Happy May!  I have always loved the month of May.  I love the end of the school year, I always have and probably always will.  Or maybe not, who knows.  Even though we're a homeschooling family, by May, everyone is over the work and the mundane of it all.

Today is Drew's last day of the tutorial class he's been taking this school year.  Even though I had to turn in his grades last Friday in time for our cover school to process his grades for his diploma, he still had this one last class.  I know he will be more excited after this class today, because he will really be done.

While he is gone, I have a few errands to run, and I have a couple of things I'm looking forward to as well, so I thought I would share.  But first, look at this sweet pup.

Chip is about eight months old, or close to it, as far as we know, and he's been ours for five of those months.  I took this last night before I went to bed.  He looks at me like this all the time, adoringly and lovingly.  He is still "mine" and follows me around like a lovesick little puppy.  If I move, he gets up.  If I cook, he sits at my feet.  When I go upstairs, he sits on this rug and begs to go with me.  While I get dressed, he lays on my bed.  If I'm on the couch, he's in my lap.  You get the idea.

Isn't he adorable?

He is also a royal pain in the rear.  He loves to torture Crash and Callie, and he still has really random accidents inside.  He tears up anything in his kennel for too long, he chases his own tail and is ALWAYS running into things and sending things crashing to the floor.

But it's okay.  I still love him.  (Todd is rolling his eyes at me right now, if he's reading this.)

Speaking of dogs, one of the places I have to go to today is to buy Callie dog food.  I don't have to cook dinner tonight, though, and that makes me incredibly happy.  My church is giving an appreciation dinner for the bible fellowship teachers and their families, so we'll be eating there at the cookout.

I'm also going to vote today, because I kept forgetting to early vote, and I am going to my friend's house to pray with her.

Here are some things I'm looking forward to:

Drew's graduation!  Eleven days and counting.

The senior banquet they give the ones graduating at our church.  It's a really nice dinner at a country club.

The day they honor the graduating seniors at church.  This is always an emotional day, because after they announce them all, they call down all the people who have influenced their lives in any way to pray for them.  That brings tears to my eyes just writing that out.

Vacation!  We leave after the morning service on the day they honor the senior at church.  We're going to Branson again, and by now, we have our favorite things that we love to do while we're there.  Swim, chill in the hot tub after dinner, play games, go to Silver Dollar City, see a play at the Sight and Sound theater, ride the fast go-carts (the boys, not me), eat custard at a yummy ice cream place, laugh our heads off at the dumbest things.  On this trip will be my in-love's, Todd, Graham, Drew, Jonah, Noah, Rachel (this is a first!) and me.  I am so excited to have an additional girl on the trip with me.  We always eat out a few times while we're gone, but I also cook while we're there.

And then after vacation, I'm looking forward to summer days.  Last year I had a weekly date with my mom-in-love to swim in her neighborhood pool, and I'm looking forward to doing that again.  I know the boys are really excited about going to camp, and Drew's excited about his mission trip to the reservation again.  He will also have a summer job working at our church with the young families' pastor.  He and Noah will be helping with a day camp and kids camp this summer.  Graham and Jonah are going on a trip together with some friends and Rachel's parents, after we get home from vacation, so I know they're excited about that as well.

It's a busy time for our family, as always, but fun days are ahead.  In the meantime, I have a mountain of laundry to do and a bed to make and a day to get started, so I'll end this for now.

Thanks for reading!  Love to all.

P.s. I came across this post today from Andrea at Momfessionals, for great end of the year teacher's gifts.  Click here to see for yourself.

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday, friends! I feel like shouting from the rooftop that Christmas is over, I survived (thrived at times, cried at others), and...
